“Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls—yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” — Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NKJV)
Waiting is one of the hardest parts of the faith journey. We pray, believe, and trust God, yet sometimes the answers seem delayed. We wait for healing, restoration, provision, direction, or breakthrough. In those moments, it can be tempting to become discouraged or lose hope.
Habakkuk understood what it felt like to face uncertainty. In these verses, he paints a picture of lack and disappointment. The fig tree isn’t blooming. The vines aren’t producing fruit. The fields are barren. Everything around him suggests hardship. Yet despite what he sees, Habakkuk makes a powerful declaration: “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord.”
Notice that his worship was not dependent on his circumstances. He chose to praise God before the breakthrough arrived. He worshiped while he waited.
Worship shifts our focus from what is missing to Who is faithful. It reminds us that God’s character does not change even when our circumstances do. When we worship in the waiting, we declare that God is worthy of praise not only for what He does, but for who He is.
The waiting season is not wasted. God is often doing His deepest work in us while we wait. He is strengthening our faith, teaching us dependence on Him, and preparing us for what lies ahead. Every prayer offered in faith and every song of praise sung in the midst of uncertainty becomes a testimony of trust.
Maybe today you are waiting for healing from chronic illness, reconciliation in a relationship, financial provision, or an answer to a prayer that seems unanswered. Take heart. God sees you. He has not forgotten you. And while you wait, you can worship.
Like Habakkuk, choose to say, “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord.” Let your worship become an act of faith. Let your praise rise above your circumstances. Trust that the God who holds your future is working even when you cannot see it.

Prayer
Dear God,
Waiting is not always easy, but I choose to trust You. Help me to worship You even when I do not see the answers yet. Strengthen my faith, guard my heart from discouragement, and remind me of Your goodness. Teach me to rejoice in You regardless of my circumstances. Thank You for being faithful in every season.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
